Does DPF Cleaning Really Work?

February 9, 2021

This can be broken down into two categories:

Yes DPF Cleaning works!

No DPF Cleaning does not work and I wasted my time and money.

Lets start with the No it doesn’t work-

DPF cleaning will not work for the following

  • You’ve gone to the local parts shop and purchased a magic bottle of DPF cleaner to add to the fuel.

There are some quality additives that assist in maintaining an already working DPF by helping in limiting soot production etc, but we are yet to see a fuel additive successfully rectify a blocked DPF as promised on some labels.

This grinds our gears as unfortunately the additive industry is fairly unregulated meaning they get away with a load of bullshit promises wasting your time and money knowing full well that $29.95 is catering to your “ahhhhh well chuck er in and see, what have we got to lose” mentality.

$29.95 isn’t a huge amount of outlay for most and not worth chasing up when it does fuck all but to these snakes, repeat that transaction 1000’s of times this adds up to huge profits.

  • Similar to the the above additive rant ,an on vehicle DPF clean for rectification purposes over prevention/maintenance purposes will not work. How do we know?? We’ve tested them all at a huge cost of both time and money to us. A blocked DPF from high kms, engine failure or stop start driving will not be properly rectified by an on vehicle DPF clean product. That being said we have an open mind and will continue testing any product that comes to market. We would love to offer an on vehicle solution for a blocked DPF as this falls straight into our value and convenience ethic to our customers.
  • The issue as to why the DPF inititially blocked has not been properly diagnosed and or rectified. For example a boost leak in the vehicles induction system from a split intercooler hose.
  • As already mentioned incorrect equipment, products and techniques have been used.

Now for the YES! “DPF cleaning worked and saved me thousands of dollars because I didn’t have to purchase a new filter and the reason why it blocked was diagnosed so I won’t be inconvenienced again”

Cleaning of all and any Exhaust after treatment parts including DPF’s will work guaranteed if the services of a specialised company with proper equipment and trained staff are employed & the component is deemed serviceable through pre-work diagnostics

This company if like ours should provide before and after data, visual proof in a report and on-going support to educate the customer on ways to prevent this issue re-occuring.

PREVENTION IS THE BEST SOLUTION
